Conference Summary
Over the past decade, it has become clear that the mechanisms of nutrient sensing and metabolic signaling discovered in one cell type, tissue, or experimental system can be foundational to understanding these mechanisms in other settings. The ability to adapt to various nutrient states, at both the cellular and systemic level, is essential to the homeostatic nature of life on this planet. While maladaptation and defects in nutrient sensing mechanisms underlie a diverse set of human diseases, this interdisciplinary meeting is predominantly focused on nutrient sensing and metabolism at the level of insulin-responsive metabolic tissues and integrated physiology and associated metabolic diseases. Major areas of clinical interest covered in this conference include obesity, diabetes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), cardiovascular disease, skeletal muscle atrophy, cancer, and aging.
