Mechanisms in Plant Development

2027 FASEB Science Research Conference

August 16-19, 2027 (Tentative)
Venue TBD

Conference Summary
Plant developmental biology is a cornerstone discipline that unravels the intricate mechanisms governing the self-organization of multicellularity in the plant kingdom. This field has made groundbreaking contributions to understanding signaling pathways, deciphering DNA elements like transposons, establishing Mendelian genetics, and many other fundamental biological principles. Plant developmental systems have recently emerged as powerful tools for advancing areas like epigenetics, systems and single cell biology, cell mechanics and modeling, and the interplay between development and the cell cycle. This underscores the profound influence of plant development across diverse scientific domains.

For nearly 40 years, this conference has been the only regular international conference devoted entirely to plant developmental biology, encouraging meaningful cross-pollination of ideas as it brings together this varied community.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Fate specification in development
  • Plant hormones and development
  • Cell morphogenesis

Program topics include:

  • Development in crop plants
  • Cell biology of development
  • Cell mechanics
  • Evolution of development

Workshops:

A Meet the Experts session will focus on discussion topics including molecular mechanisms of plant hormone signaling in development; emerging (non) model species for plant development; cell division and differentiation in plant growth; environmental influences on plant morphogenesis; and emerging technologies in plant developmental biology.

Panel discussion leaders at the Career Development Workshop will address topics of interest regarding a variety of career pathways in publishing, industry, and academia.
