In September, the National Academies’ Roundtable on Science and Welfare of Animals in Research launched a webinar series addressing key challenges in the laboratory animal sciences workforce – from recruitment to retention.

The next webinar in the series, “Staffing that Sticks: How Workplace Culture Helps Retain Top Talent in Lab Animal Care,” will be co-hosted by FASEB and the National Academies’ Roundtable on November 3, from 12–1 pm ET.

This virtual session will explore how fostering a culture of care within institutions supports both workforce well-being and animal welfare. A panel of experts will share insights and practical strategies from across sectors to help build more resilient, sustainable research environments:
  • Elizabeth Houston, DVM, Clinical Veterinarian and Consultant in Culture of Care Development
  • J. Preston Van Hooser, Review Scientist and Compliance Manager, University of Washington, Office of Animal Welfare
  • Judy Murray, Director of Animal Welfare Training, Charles River Laboratories
Attendees will learn about best practices that promote staff retention, compassion in care, and overall research integrity. The event is open to all and free to attend but requires registration.
