FASEB Leads Letters Opposing SPARE Act
Monday, June 2, 2025FASEB sent a letter to Representatives Nicole Malliotakis and Aaron Bean, stating support for the use of animals in American biomedical research and opposing the Save Pets, Animals, and Research Ethics (SPARE) Act. In addition, 31 community organizations joined a sister letter organized by FASEB, expressing the same concerns. If passed, the SPARE Act would ban federal funding for animal research, reducing U.S. capacity for biomedical innovation and scientific discovery. The letter addresses common misconceptions presented in the bill that overstate the readiness of newer technologies to replace animal research.
