FASEB sent a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees urging them to reject the unprecedented cuts in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) funding that were proposed in the administration's fiscal year 2026 budget request. The letter also noted the best path forward is to continue funding grants for researchers and urged Congress to approve FASEB's recommended funding levels of $51.3 billion for NIH and $16.7 billion for NSF.
