On February 3, National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) stipends, tuition and fees, and other budgetary levels effective for fiscal year (FY) 2023. Year zero postdoctoral stipends are $56,484, and predoctoral stipends are $27,144. Both increased approximately 3 percent compared to the FY 2022 levels. Funds for tuition and fees remain unchanged, but funds for training-related expenses increased. Predoctoral trainees on institutional training grants or individual fellowships at nonfederal public, private, and nonprofit institutions have access to up to $4,550 for training-related expenses, and postdoctoral trainees and fellows may receive up to $12,200.

NIH also posted notices of legislative mandates and fiscal policies in effect for FY 2023. The salary limitation for Executive Level II is $212,000. Additional information on fiscal operations is located on the NIH funding strategies webpage.
