FASEB Receives NIH Grant to Support Professional Development for Diverse Scholars
By: Yvette SegerWednesday, August 21, 2024
Earlier this month, FASEB became the fifth organization funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences through the Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) Organizational Research Education Award (UE5). This new, five-year grant provides over $2 million to support professional development for postdoctoral scholars from diverse backgrounds as they transition into independent faculty careers.
Scholars participating in the FASEB MOSAIC program will receive five years of professional development, mentoring, networking, and research support to further their professional development and support their transition to independent research careers. A flexible approach – including a balance of virtual, on-demand programming with in-person sessions across three core categories of professional development categories (research skills, lab/team management, and individual resilience) – allows the program to be tailored to meet the needs of individual FASEB MOSAIC Scholars. Similarly, each Scholar will be assigned a designated MOSAIC mentor to help them establish a professional network and navigate career transitions.
As part of the program launch, FASEB actively seeks candidates for MOSAIC mentors. Learn more about the role of MOSAIC mentors and the time commitment here. MOSAIC mentor applications must be received by September 30.
