FASEB Partners With National Voter Registration Day
By: Jennifer ZeitzerWednesday, September 11, 2024
In the lead up to the 2024 presidential and congressional elections, FASEB signed on as a Community Partner for National Voter Registration Day. Celebrated on September 17, the event is a nonpartisan holiday that originated in 2012. Since its inception, National Voter Registration Day has registered more than five million Americans to vote in local, state, and national elections. More than 4,500 organizations are expected to serve as Community Partners this year. FASEB’s partnership with National Voter Registration day is part of our ongoing collaborative advocacy efforts and service to our member societies.
During National Voter Registration Day, community partners from all over the country engage in coordinated field, digital, and media actions focused on urging people to register to vote and/or verify that their existing voter registration is up-to-date. Activities include voter registration events in communities, workplaces, libraries, college campuses, and other venues, social media outreach to help voters register to vote online and find registration drives, and national and local media to raise awareness of voter registration opportunities.
FASEB will recognize National Voter Registration Day on our social media channels, including X and LinkedIn, with a call to action directing followers to resources that will allow them to register to vote in their state or confirm that they are currently registered to vote. In addition, FASEB will share Partner Communication Resources, including an expanded social media guide with suggested graphics, links to trusted voting registration websites and online tool kits, and instructions on how voters can find their local polling place.
The holiday is endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State, the National Association of State Election Directors, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and the National Association of Election Officials. In July, the U.S Senate unanimously approved a resolution (SR 766) sponsored by Amy Klobuchar and Deb Fischer recognizing September 17 as National Voter Registration Day. The Senate resolution noted that the holiday is a nonpartisan event that celebrates democracy and encourages all eligible individuals to vote.
