Earlier this month, FASEB responded to a Request for Information issued by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) seeking input on new strategies to improve access to health information through the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM). A consortium of seven health sciences libraries across the country, NNLM ultimately connects thousands of health sciences libraries to NLM resources, serving the medical information needs of health professionals and the public.

In its comments, FASEB acknowledged the critical role of NNLM in advancing data literacy, both within the research and health delivery community and broader public and suggested that the reach of NNLM resources could be enhanced through key partnerships with comparable community-driven initiatives within the research community. Similarly, FASEB noted the critical role that NNLM could play in advancing the dialogue on the importance of open methods toward enhancing the accessibility of federally funded science.
