Damian Romero, a PhD candidate at the University of Arizona, is the first DataWorks! Data Management Plan (DMP) Challenge winner. The prize recognizes his DMP, "Using Natural Language Processing to Determine Predictors of Healthy Diet and Physical Activity Behavior Change in Ovarian Cancer Survivors." View Romero’s DMP

“This plan does a great job of addressing the heterogeneity of their data by using reference numbering and a table summary at the start. While this is not appropriate for every plan, it fits this one because of the variety of data and related content types and data sharing restrictions,” the panel of judges noted.

In addition to the $500 DataWorks! DMP Challenge prize, Romero will receive a $500 matching award from the NNLM National Center for Data Services for his collaboration with University of Arizona data librarian Fernando Rios, PhD.

The DMP Challenge is a component of FASEB DataWorks! Prize, FASEB’s new initiative that brings the biological and biomedical research communities together to advance human health through data sharing and reuse.
