FASEB Submits Letter to NASEM Expressing Praise for Recent Report

On March 22, FASEB submitted a letter to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use, and Wellbeing in STEMM Undergraduate and Graduate Education expressing praise for the recent “Mental Health, Substance Use, and Wellbeing in Higher Education: Supporting the Whole Student” report. FASEB hopes to see continued attention on these vital issues, including additional exploration into topics pertinent to graduate students such as leaves of absence and alcohol use. Furthermore, the scientific ecosystem would benefit from expansion of research into the wellbeing of the entire research environment including postdoctoral scientists and Principal Investigators.
