FASEB Statement on FY 2020 White House Budget Request

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

FASEB issued a statement expressing serious concerns about cuts to research agencies included in the detailed fiscal year (FY) 2020 budget request the Trump administration submitted to Congress on March 18. The budget proposes to reduce funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by nearly $5 billion and the National Science Foundation (NSF) by approximately $1 billion. A reduction of $1 billion was also proposed for the Department of Energy Office of Science.

The administration’s budget request will be reviewed by Congress over the next few months. FASEB will continue to advocate for funding increases for NIH, NSF, and other research agencies.
