FASEB Signs on to AAMC/NABR Community Sign-On Letter Regarding Canine Research

Tuesday, June 11, 2019
On Tuesday, June 4, FASEB signed on to a community sign-on letter organized by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the National Association of Biomedical Research (NABR), urging members of the Senate Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee not to include language adopted by the House that would eliminate funding for all Category D and E canine research conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This language was included in the FY2020 VA funding bill (H.R. 2745) and approved by the full House Appropriations Committee on May 9, 2019. FASEB submitted a similar letter to the Senate Appropriations subcommittee on May 14, strongly urging the committee to reject this language in the FY2020 Senate Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies bill.
