FASEB Responds to NIH Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion RFI

On Tuesday, April 6, FASEB responded to the Request for Information from National Institutes of Health (NIH) on suggestions for strengthening and advancing racial equity, diversity, and inclusion in the biomedical research workforce. Overall, FASEB emphasized the importance of culturally aware mentoring, sponsorship in addition to mentorship, equitable recruitment and retention, and the actions scientific societies and affinity organizations are taking to create inclusive spaces and combat harassment. Finally, FASEB asked for continued evaluation of current pilot programs aimed to diversify science and further engagement with extramural stakeholders.
