FASEB Praises NSF for Implementing Procedures to Ensure Research Environments Are Free From Harassment

Thursday, October 25, 2018
FASEB sent a letter to the National Science Foundation (NSF) supporting the proposal to collect new information required for implementation of NSF’s recently updated term of grant awards related to sexual harassment and other violations of codes of conduct. FASEB previously provided input to NSF on the proposed new grant terms and condition and supports the updated policy that was released on September 21, 2018. In the letter, FASEB notes that the proposed new information mirrors details that should be collected by research institutions when investigating potential violations of awardee policies or codes of conduct, statutes, regulations, or executive orders relating to sexual harassment, other forms of harassment, or sexual assault. FASEB also applauded the efforts of the NSF Office of Diversity and Inclusion to develop and provide resources to ensure proper reporting of investigation outcomes.
