FASEB Praises NASEM Report on Underrepresentation of Women in STEMM

Thursday, May 7, 2020
FASEB sent a letter to the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) commending the recent report “Promising Practices for Addressing the Underrepresentation of Women in Science, Engineering, and Medicine: Opening Doors” on May 6. In the letter, FASEB applauds the attention called to the pervasive issue of gender inequity in recruitment, retention, and careeradvancement in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) fields, and the need to collect additional data to understand the experiences of individuals with intersectional identities. Additionally, FASEB highlights our efforts that strive for equity. We thank the Committee for their hard work and dedication invested in this report, and look forward to cohesive implementation of the recommendations by all stakeholders.
