Personal Data and Information
To gain access to some resources and personalization features on our website, users are asked to register and provide limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily.

The information you provide to us will be used to keep you up to date on areas for which you have expressed interest. We will exercise discretion in the use of your information, as further described in this policy.

We also obtain, analyze, and store information when you request our services; voluntarily complete surveys and contact forms; respond to marketing communications; and participate in FASEB products, programs, services, and events.

  • Publications. If you participate in the submission and peer review of manuscripts, you will be asked to register and provide limited information using the respective journal’s eJournal Press peer review system. We are committed to fostering a scientific community that supports and benefits from the talents of researchers from a wide range of backgrounds. We ask our community (authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff) to self-report data to help us gauge our success at advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity in research. It is important to note that the information you provide is optional. Your gender, ethnic, or racial identity will in no way be used when evaluating journal submissions as the information will not be accessible to editors or board members. Your data will be aggregated and anonymized before being reported to improve our policies and processes.

Please see also eJournal Press’ Privacy Policy. Authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication and journal users on the Wiley website are subject to the Wiley Privacy Policy
  • Conferences and Events. Personal information and data you provide during registration or for any conference sessions will be accessible to FASEB employees, volunteer conference organizers, and vendor partners supporting registration, conference components, or housing (if applicable). We use your contact information to provide you with up-to-date information about FASEB and FASEB events. A participant list with contact information is available to other registered conference participants during the conference. FASEB does not sell contact information to third parties.
  • Marketing. We collect personal information (such as your name and email address) when you sign up for a FASEB account, create or modify your information, set preferences, or provide any other related information to access or use our email subscription service.
  • Credit Card Account Information. We collect payment and billing information when you make a donation on our website. We use a secure third-party payment service provider to manage payment processing, which is collected through a secure payment process.
  • Usage Data. Usage data are automatically obtained when you visit our site, including your IP address, browser type, time of day, pages visited, and referring sites.

We only hold this information as long as it is necessary to fulfill a contract or provide you with requested services, including FASEB newsletters and communication updates.

If at any time you no longer wish to receive notifications or promotions from FASEB, email us and we will remove you from our mailing list immediately.

How We Use Your Information

Generally, we obtain, analyze, and store your information and data to improve our web content; respond to your interests, needs, and preferences; further our mission; and deliver products, programs, and services. Specifically, we use the information you submit in the following ways:

  • To Provide Your Email Subscriptions. We use your FASEB account information and data to enable the email subscriptions you choose to receive for our products, programs, and services. For example, this information may include your company or organization name, contact name, address, telephone number, email address, and services requested. We use the email address you provide when signing up for the subscription to create your user account.
  • To Share Promotional and Informational Content. We use the information you provide to FASEB to market and promote our products, programs, and services. For example, we use information, such as your email address, to send information or FASEB content which we think may be of interest to you and send you marketing communications relating to our offerings. We use this information to promote our offerings to you and share promotional and informational content with you in accordance with your communication preferences.
  • To Improve and Develop Our Products, Programs, and Services. We collect usage data about how you interact with our products, programs, and services. We use this data to develop and improve, as well as distribute our products, programs, and services. For example, we use usage data to assess trends and usage across the product to help us determine what new features or integrations you may be interested in.

We do not collect any personal information from you while browsing our website. When you visit our website, we may automatically obtain, analyze, and store statistics about your visit. This information does not identify you personally, but rather about your visit to our website. For instance, we may monitor statistics such as how many people visit our site, which pages people visit, from which domains our visitors come, and which browsers people use. We use these statistics about your visit for aggregation purposes only.

Legal Basis for Processing Your Information and Data (EEA and UK visitors only). Our legal basis for obtaining, analyzing, storing, and using the personal information and data described above will depend on the information concerned and the specific context in which we obtain it. However, we will normally collect information from you only where we have your consent to do so, where we need the information to perform a contract with you, or where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms. In some cases, we may also have a legal obligation to obtain personal data from you.

If we ask you to provide personal information to comply with a legal requirement or to perform a contract with you, we will make this clear at the relevant time and advise you whether the provision of your personal data is mandatory or not (as well as of the possible consequences if you do not provide your information). Similarly, if we obtain and use your personal information in reliance on our legitimate interests (or those of any third party), we will make clear to you at the relevant time what those legitimate interests are.

Your data will be stored and processed in whole or in part in the United States. If you access the FASEB website outside the United States, your usage of that site constitutes consent to the transfer of your data out of your country and to the United States.
