The Mechanism of Plant Development Conference

This FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) is focused on exploring the mechanisms of plant development, including plant morphogenesis, cell biology, embryogenesis, juvenile-adult and vegetative-reproductive phase transitions, and flowering.

The conference will bring together the international plant development community, comprising PIs, postdocs, and graduate students.

The meeting’s main themes are: 1) The role of hormones and mechanical signals in organizing the plant body plan; 2) Molecular mechanisms that lead to asymmetry at the cell and organ level; 3) Pathways that mediate cellular specialization.  

Conference sessions will present the latest research and foster discussion on:
  • Tissue Patterning
  • Developmental Plasticity
  • Cellular Response to Environment
  • Mechanisms in Cell Polarity
  • Cellular Specialization
  • Establishing and Elaborating Body Plan
  • Signaling and Crosstalk
  • Mediating Indeterminate Growth
  • Cell-Cell Communication
The conference covers six sessions, 12 abstract presentations, two keynote sessions, and three topic session. Poster presenters will give two-minute video presentations at the end of the conference. Additionally, a “Meet the Experts” session will include a series of breakout rooms, allowing PIs to meet with postdocs, graduate students, and young faculty to offer advice about starting a lab, securing funding, broader outreach, and balancing research and teaching.

Poster Information

Poster setup can be done on arrival day (Sunday) and removed by the end of the conference (Thursday) evening.  The poster board is 6 ft wide by 4 ft high.  Your poster should not exceed this size. Push pins will be provided for poster presenters.

Reimbursement allocations are up to the organizers of each conference and depend on external funding availability, and therefore are not guaranteed. Conferences meeting at the Vermont Academy are unique and have dormitory housing included in the registration rate. Attendees can choose from single or double occupancy rooms during the registration process.

Lodging reservations should only be made using the options above. Any solicitation by third-party lodging companies is not endorsed by FASEB.

The airport provides information on ground transportation options here for Lebanon Municipal Airport (LEB) and here for Bradley International Airport (BDL). The average cost of a taxi from this airport to the conference location is $80-$130 for LEB and Rutland - Southern Vermont Regional Airport (RUT) and $120-$200 for BDL.

For attendees using Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), there is a bus option available. Bus tickets cost $50 each way and arrangements may be made when registering. If you have already registered and want to purchase a bus ticket, you may modify your registration using your confirmation email. Pickup from the airport to Vermont Academy is on 7/24/22 at 2 pm. The return trip to the airport is on 7/29/22 at 9 am.
