Cecelia C. Yates is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Pathology  at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Yates conducts research in the field of dermatopathology and the emerging fields of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine/tissue engineering. Currently, she is using cell transplantation technology to correct excessive scarring and fibrosis. Her research also extends into investigations of genomic regulation of molecules that mediates the development and progression of fibrosis.She earned her doctorate in Integrative Science and Pathology from Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, AL, in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She has been recognized by the Experimental Pathologist in Graduate Training award, European Tissue Repair Young Investigator award, and was named as the ASIP Excellence in Science awardee for 2011, as well as other training and travel awards from FASEB, ASIP, and the Wound Healing Society. Dr. Yates is a member of the American Society for Investigative Pathology, Wound Healing Society, The Endocrine Society and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. She serves on several national committees and is a reviewer for Wound Repair and Regeneration and Acta Dermato-Venereologica. Dr. Yates has basic research publications in the top ranked pathology journal, The American Journal of Pathology, and in Wound Repair and Regeneration, Circulation Research, and applied communication in Biomaterials.

 Have you ever jumped out of a plane?

 No, but I plan to real soon.

 What's the oldest piece of clothing you still own and wear?

 Socks from when I was in the 10th grade.

 Do you have a handbag/wallet that best describes your personality?

 Yes, it is solid black on the outside and many wild colors in the inside.

 Would you rather lead or follow?

 I prefer to lead but I always try to recognize when I am better served in a supportive role.
