The conferences held in Vermont occur at the Vermont Academy, a private boarding school established in the late 1800s. The Academy is located in the foothills of southeastern Vermont in the Village of Saxtons River. The streets of this small, friendly Vermont village are lined with predominantly 19th-century buildings. Saxtons River has recently been named to the National Register of Historic Places.
The average summer temperature in Vermont is 70-80° Fahrenheit (21-27° Centigrade). However, daytime temperatures can range from the low 60s up into the 90s and be very humid. Casual clothing is suggested. We also suggest bringing a sweater or jacket for sessions, as the meeting rooms tend to be on the cool side.
Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vermont is 130 miles from Logan International Airport (BOS) in Boston, Massachusetts and 110 miles from Bradley International Airport (BDL) near Hartford, Connecticut.
Participants are housed in dormitory rooms. Rooms are furnished with one or two single beds and can accommodate one or two paid participants. Fans, sheets, pillowcases, blankets, towels, washcloths and soap are provided by Vermont Academy. Wireless internet is available in all buildings on campus. Please note: individual dormitory rooms are not air conditioned. Each floor has one or two communal bathrooms (gender specific) and a common area with a television and telephone.
If you request a single or double occupancy room, the registration fee covers 5 nights of lodging (Sunday through Thursday night, checkout Friday morning).
If you plan to arrive early or stay beyond the official conference dates, you must make your own lodging arrangements for the extra nights at an off-site property. You are responsible to make and pay for these additional arrangements.
You will be given your housing assignment when you arrive at the Academy. There are a limited number of single rooms which are assigned based on availability and are on a first come, first serve basis.
Please Note: It may be helpful to bring a flashlight, alarm clock, or umbrella since these items are not provided on site.

We encourage those bringing children to register using the “Off-Site” option. This option includes registration and meals for the attending conference participant; lodging expenses are not included and are the responsibility of the attendee.
For those who choose to register as an “Off Site” participant (registration and meals only), it is your responsibility to make and pay for your own lodging.

Child and Family Care Resources
FASEB provides detailed information for each conference site on the Science Research Conference (SRC) website and also provides venue information directly to each attendee. Although FASEB does not directly provide child care services, attendees are welcome to have guests (including spouses, children, nannies and babysitters) accompany them to the conference to provide such care. Because Vermont Academy is a school setting, please be advised that if you are traveling with a child under the age of 12, off-site accommodations are required. FASEB offers an alternative off-site registration fee at all conferences, to accommodate those with special family care needs (the off-site fee includes the conference and all meals but enables attendees to book their own accommodations). Both the FASEB and venue websites include information on nearby off-site accommodations that may assist attendees with locating licensed child care providers and daycare services. The venue management may also provide any assistance to attendees regarding child/family care issues or concerns, if available. Please contact FASEB SRC staff with any special needs that they may have.
Please Note: Photographs or Video recording by attendees/speakers during any portion of a FASEB SRC conference is prohibited without prior written permission of the author/presenter, organizers and FASEB SRC staff.
