About the FASEB Science Research Conferences

In 1980 FASEB began planning a new program for scientific communication to be at the cutting edge of research in a format entirely different from the annual Society meetings. The initiation of the FASEB Science Research Conferences in 1982 began a continuing series of inter-disciplinary exchanges that are recognized as a valuable complement to the highly successful Society meetings. The conferences are divided into small groups of experimental biologists who meet intimately and without distractions to explore new approaches to those research areas undergoing rapid scientific changes.

The FASEB Science Research Conference Advisory Committee reviews and selects conferences from proposals submitted by both member and nonmember organizers. Every effort is made to avoid duplication of other conferences. Emphasis is on cutting edge research, with prominent scientists in each field making presentations to attendees who are heavily engaged in research or are in ancillary fields where an accurate understanding of allied scientific advances is important. Post-doctorial candidates are also encouraged to participate in the conferences. Attendees are selected by the organizers on the basis of their probable contributions to science.
