FASEB Excellence in Science Award 2006

“Recognizing the Research Accomplishments of Women Scientists”

May 13, 2005

Dear Friends of Excellence in Science,

This year’s nomination process has been a raging success!  In years passed the number of nomination packets submitted for this award were between 4 and 12.  Since then, the number of nominations has grown to last year’s amazing 58 nominations.  Now, with extra publicity, the addition of a website, and online submissions we have received a record-breaking 130 nominations!  Still more exciting - the growth in quantity of submissions was more than matched by growth in quality.  Thank you for your interest and participation!

The Executive office weeded through all the nomination packets to check for complete compliance with the requirements of the award.

  • One (1) nomination letter, setting forth in detail:
    • Contribution(s) to the field that represents the nominee’s outstanding achievement in science.
    • Leadership and mentorship.
    • Evidence of national recognition.
    • Honors and awards, synopsis of selected bibliography.
  • One (1) full curriculum vitae including all publications.
  • One (1) each of no more than 5 reprints.
  • One (1) of each additional letters of support.
  • Recommendations from former trainees are encouraged.

103 of the 130 nomination packets submitted were found to be complete, and were passed on to the Award Committee March 29, 2005.

The Excellence in Science Award Committee began it’s deliberations of the 103 complete nomination packets April 18, 2005.  The committee will send their recommendation to the FASEB Board of Directors for ratification during the FASEB Summer Board Meeting, June 13 & 14, 2005.
