FASEB Excellence in Science Award 2006

“Recognizing the Research Accomplishments of Women Scientists”

July 27, 2005

FASEB takes great pleasure in announcing the results of the Excellence in Science Award for 2006!

The Committee reviewed a record 103 applications and had to select from a plethora of outstanding candidates.  Due to the quantity and quality of candidates, the Committee took the unusual step of recommending two individuals to the FASEB Board of Directors.  The FASEB Board of Directors is honored to present to you the 2006 Excellence in Science Award Winners,

Dr. Marilyn Farquhar and Dr. Elaine Fuchs

The awardees will present Lectures at the Annual Meeting of the ASBMB during the 2006 Experimental Biology Conference this coming spring.  At the meeting, the awardees will each receive a plaque in recognition of the award.  The Excellence in Science Award includes complimentary registration, travel expenses, a two-day hotel reimbursement, and a $10,000 unrestricted research grant funded by Eli Lilly and Company.  Thanks to the generosity of the Eli Lilly Corporation, both candidates will receive the full stipend this year.

FASEB wishes to thank the Excellence in Science Award Committee and in particular the retiring chair, Dr. Nancy Thompson, for all of the hard work required this year.
