LATEST NEWS CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2008 FASEB Diversity Award. The FASEB Diversity Award (sponsored by Burroughs Wellcome Fund) was established to recognize outstanding achievement by an early stage life scientist from an underrepresented minority group. Individuals eligible for nomination are U.S.A. Citizens or Permanent Residents of the U.S.A. from an ethnic minority group recognized as being underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, are members of one or more of the societies of FASEB, and are at a relatively early career stage, defined as not more than six years after completion of postdoctoral training. Nominations recognize an individual who has contributed significantly to a scientific discipline in addition to service and mentoring via local and national leadership leading to improving and expanding opportunities for minorities in the scientific workforce and academia. Applications are encouraged from individuals from comprehensive research universities or non-academic entities. The 2008 recipient will be required to present the FASEB Diversity Award Lecture as part of the FASEB Diversity Program activities at the Experimental Biology 2009 meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The award includes a $10,000 unrestricted research grant funded by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, meeting registration and travel expenses for the Experimental Biology 2009 meeting and a plaque in recognition of the award. No indirect costs are associated with this award. No paper submissions accepted. For complete details, go to:
