Undergraduate Honor Society Applying to Form a Local Chapter

UAN Faculty Advisors may establish local chapters of the Honor Society provided they maintain a minimum of 10 student members of ASBMB.

To create a local chapter the faculty advisor should:

  1. Consult with their regional UAN Director and inform them of their intent to form a chapter: they will then  be assigned a  tentative chapter number and establishmnet date.
  2. Create a local chapter charter document establishing local membership guidelines and certifying that they meet the criteria established for a Chapter of CWL, as described in the Charter of the Society
  3. Elect or designate local chapter officers: President, President-Elect and Secretary
  4. Submit the above information together with the names and membership numbers of at least ten student members of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to the appropriate Regional Undergraduate Affiliates Network Director

The Regional Director will then submit a recommendation to the  National Executive Committee of the Honor Society.

Upon approval of the formation of the local chapter a certificate with chapter number and date the chapter was established will be issued by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
