Submission Process

First Time Authors

If you have never submitted to The FASEB Journal electronically, you must first register for an account.

With your registration you will need to complete an online form telling us who you are and how to contact you if necessary. The information supplied here will also be filled in for you when you begin submitting a paper. Please be as accurate as possible since the registration information will be associated with your manuscript(s).

An Introduction to Altmetric

At the end of 2015 The FASEB Journal partnered with Digital Sciences to add the AltMetric badge to articles that are getting the attention of researchers in the field.

What is AltMetric ?
A single research output may live online in multiple websites and can be talked about across dozens of different platforms. Knowing who’s talking about your research and what they’re saying is crucial. You need to know how it is represented to the public and that it is reaching the right people at  the right time. AltMetric shows you and the research community the impact of your article and allows you to track the ongoing discussion.

AltMetric monitors the following sources for mentions about research outputs:

  • Public Policy
  • Online Reference Managers
  • Research highlights
  • Blogs
  • Multimedia and other online platforms: YouTube, Reddit
  • Mainstream Media
  • Post Publication Peer-review platforms
  • Wikipedia
  • Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Linked In, Sina Weibo and Pinteres

Each article with an AltMetric score provides a link to more detailed information about the score to keep you informed about who is talking about your research (example below).


Kudos - Increase Readership of your Articles

Kudos is a free service through which you can broaden readership and increase the impact of your research. Kudos is more than a just a networking site, and more than just a publication listing. It is a toolkit for explaining your work in plain language and for enriching it with links to related materials (watch a video about explaining and enriching). Kudos also provides a unique one-stop shop for multiple metrics relating to your publications: page views, citations, full text downloads and altmetrics. When you explain, enrich and share your work through Kudos, we map your actions against these metrics in charts that show you which activities are most effective when it comes to increasing the reach and impact of your work (watch a video about sharing your work).

ORCID - Connecting Research and Researchers

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized. Distinguish yourself in three easy steps:

  1. Register! Get your ORCID identifier in 30 seconds.
  2. Add your info. Enhance your ORCID record with your professional information and link to your other identifiers (such as Scopus or ResearcherID or LinkedIn).
  3. Use your ORCID ID. Include your ORCID identifier on your Webpage, when you submit publications, apply for grants, and in any research workflow to ensure you get credit for your work.
