Communicating Science

FASEB works with and supports our member societies in communicating on a wide range of topics affecting the biological and biomedical sciences.

Washington Update, FASEB’s biweekly newsletter, covers developments at the nation’s federal science agencies, science policy issues, and the current state of science funding – news that can impact science and scientists.

Additionally, to communicate with the public about important scientific advances, we publish the Breakthroughs & Horizons in Bioscience series.  A range of topics are covered – from the brain to genetics to bioengineering – and all selections are available for download.

FASEB also collaborates with a variety of scientific organizations about science communications concerns. Recently, we sponsored a Workshop on Responsible Communication of Basic Biomedical Research: Enhancing Awareness and Avoiding Hype, hosted by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.  More information, including video coverage of the workshop, is available on our Avoiding Hype Workshop page.

And finally, FASEB helps its member societies communicate about science: to lawmakers, to other scientists, and to public audiences. These resources, including videos and slide decks, help scientists make their case:
