FASEB Submits Comments Opposing Maryland Senate Bill on Research Animal Adoption

March 01, 2018

On February 27, FASEB submitted written comments to the Maryland Senate’s Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee opposing SB 675, the Humane Adoption of Companion Animals Used in Research Act of 2018.

FASEB comments point out that the legislation is unnecessary because institutions using dogs and companion animals in research already provide for adoption when possible. The comments also indicate FASEB's opposition to the bill’s new reporting requirements because they are redundant and burdensome.
