FASEB submitted comments in response to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Request for Information (RFI) on “Metrics to Assess Value of Biomedical Digital Repositories” (NOT-OD-16-133). NIH envisions that such metrics could inform repository operation and the grant programs that support them as well as providing documentation of their value.
In its response, FASEB encouraged NIH to continue working with the scientific community to develop and refine these metrics and suggested three areas for further consideration: scope of utilization, user experience, and submitter experience. In particular, the letter emphasized the value of tools and automated processes that facilitate use. Responses to the RFI are due by September 30.
