Stand Up for Science Competition Raises Public Awareness of Federally Funded Research Created by host on 10/24/2013
The recent federal government shutdown negatively affected biological and biomedical research and its impacts continue to be felt in the scientific community. Many federal researchers were furloughed and the research grant review process has been seriously disrupted.
To raise public awareness of the importance of federal funding for science, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) announced its second annual Stand Up for Science video competition on October 1, 2013. The contestants are asked to illustrate the value of federally funded research and the harm caused by sequestration, budgetary losses due to inflation, and the government shut-down. Video entries will be accepted through November 30, 2013. For more information about the Stand Up for Science video competition, please visit the contest website
