MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND ISSUES PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING FASEB’S 100th ANNIVERSARY Created by on 03/27/2012
On March 20th, the Montgomery County, Maryland Council honored the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) by issuing a proclamation commemorating the Federation’s 100th anniversary. In making the presentation to FASEB Executive Director Guy Fogleman and Deputy Executive Director for Policy Howard Garrison, Councilmember George Leventhal cited FASEB’s prominent role in advocacy for biomedical research. Leventhal, whose parents both worked for NIH, praised FASEB’s success in setting the agenda for biomedical research in the United States. In accepting the award, Garrison thanked the Council and described how in its centennial year FASEB was rededicating itself to its goals of education and advocacy. He recounted how biomedical research funded by NIH has improved health and well-being around the globe and brought world renown to Montgomery County.
