Richard Marchase, PhD, former FASEB President and Board Member, has been named interim president of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He has been Vice President for Research and Economic Development at UAB since 2005 and a faculty member at the institution since 1986. In announcing the appointment, University of Alabama System Chancellor Robert Witt called attention to Dr. Marchase’s accomplishments as a scholar, researcher, and administrator, adding that “Dr. Marchase has helped build UAB’s global stature over the last 26 years.” Dick’s FASEB colleagues wish him and the UAB continued success in their new relationship.
