Shortly after Thanksgiving, the House and Senate leadership released their respective 2013 congressional calendars for the first session of the 113th Congress which will convene on January 3rd when new members are sworn in. As they have done in recent years, the House calendar will include at least one “constituent work week” (recess) per month (with the exception of June), and the Senate recesses will coincide with the federal holidays. The 2013 schedule also features better coordination between the House and Senate, with the two chambers observing seven joint breaks (noted in blue text).
