Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 94, no. 6 (March). Annotation: Statistically significant declines in chronic disability prevalence rates were observed in the elderly United States population between the 1982 and 1989 National Long Term Care Surveys (NLTCS). The 1994 NLTCS was used to investigate whether disability rate declines continued to 1994.

Annotation: The Silver Book is an almanac of data from more than 200 agencies, organizations, and experts. A searchable database, it highlights the research on the burden of chronic disease and the value of investing in medical research. 

• American Cancer Society and Livestrong. 2010. The Global Impact of Cancer. Annotation: A report estimating the economic loss from cancer and 14 other leading causes of death. In 2008, the worldwide economic impact of premature cancer deaths and disabilities was $895 billion.
