The Minority Opportunities in Research (MORE) division of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) has a long-standing commitment to increasing the number of biomedical and behavioral scientists from underrepresented groups. The Division administers research training grants aimed at the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral academic levels to institutions with substantial enrollments of underrepresented minority (URM) students. The Division administers these programs through its three branches:
o Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC)
o Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS)
o MORE Special Initiatives (SI)
The MORE 2010 “How To” Conference, which is different from the Division’s MORE Program Directors Meeting, will be a series of concurrent workshops. Participants will have opportunities to meet, engage, and learn from distinguished presenters on various topics pertinent to MORE student development/research training programs. The sessions are designed to be interactive, with audience participation expected.
