Biomedical Publication Seminars
"Writing for Biomedical Publication" - A seminar and service provided by Grant Writers' Seminars & Workshops, LLC (Co-sponsored by the FASEB MARC Program and funded by NIGMS MORE Division)
The FASEB MARC Program, in association with Grant Writers’ Seminars and Workshops, LLC (GWSW, LLC,) is accepting applications for the FASEB MARC Program-sponsored "Writing for Biomedical Publication Seminars for Minority Institutions. Awards are limited to accredited postsecondary minority institutions in the United States and territories of the United States. Included in this comprehensive seminar is everything from tips and strategies on composing the manuscript, through choosing the appropriate journal and understanding its review process, impact factors, acceptance rates and ‘turn-around’ times, to tips and strategies that are related to revision and resubmission. Participants also are given tips and strategies regarding how to most efficiently produce data necessary to publish; how to decide who to include as authors, and in what order; how to write with maximal clarity and precision; how to avoid issues of conflict of interest; things to be aware of with respect to plagiarism; and much more!
FASEB MARC Program co-sponsors the "Writing for Biomedical Publication" seminar at the selected minority institution by covering $8,000 of the total costs of the seminar. As this is a co-sponsored activity, the host institution (co-sponsor) will be invoiced for the balance of the total costs of the seminar fee and the handouts, including shipping costs. The costs, over $8,000, normally include the following:
"Writing for Biomedical Publication" Seminar fee for 2011-2012: $1,174 (the seminar fee is $9,174*, less the $8,000 contributed by FASEB.)
EXAMPLE OF HOW THIS CO-SPONSORSHIP ACTIVITY WORKS:
If FASEB is co-sponsoring the "Writing for Biomedical Publication" seminar at State University, then FASEB will pay GWSW, LLC a total of $8,000 as FASEB's portion of the total costs of the seminar program at State University (the co-sponsor of the seminar.)
The total amount of the seminar program expenses State University will be responsible for is $1,174 plus the actual shipping costs of the seminar materials provided by GWSW, LLC.
An invoice for the total of $1,174 plus the actual shipping costs will be sent to State University from GWSW, LLC. At the request of GWSW, LLC, advance payment for the seminar is now required.
* Seminar fee subject to change.
