George E. Jules is currently a PhD candidate at Meharry Medical College in the Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology. His research focus explores the effect of Benzo(a)pyrene (B[a]P) on the development and function of the cardiovascular system of prenatally exposed Long Evans Hooded rat offspring. Mr. Jules attended the University of the Virgin Islands and received his B.A. in Biology. He remained on the island of St. Thomas for seven years where he worked as an electrician. He later relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his graduate studies at Meharry Medical College. Mr. Jules’ academic achievements are reflected in the many awards he has received over the years which include several travel awards for presentations at scientific meetings such as the Gordon Research Conference (2005, 2008), Experimental Biology (2005, 2008), The Endocrine Society Annual Meeting (2002, 2005, 2009) and a Leadership and Performance Award (2002).
