Dr. Legette is a senior research nutritionist at Pharmavite with product responsibility and scientific overview for several key brands in the Nature Made brand portfolio of vitamin and mineral supplements. She received my BS in Food Science with emphasis on food microbiology from Cornell University. Dr. Legette completed her graduate work at Purdue University and received PhD in Food Science & Nutrition with an emphasis on nutritional biochemistry. She has also conducted post-doctoral work on botanicals and type II diabetes at the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University and has had previous industry experience at 3M, Kraft Foods, and Nabisco. Dr. Legette has research expertise in the following areas: animal models of disease, biochemistry, botanicals, bone health, clinical studies. mass spectrometry, metabolic disease, molecular biology. nutrition, and pharmacology. She is currently a member of two FASEB societies: American Society of Nutrition and American Society of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics.

Dr. LeeCole Legette has had a variety of mentoring experiences with diverse populations that enables her to serve as a great asset for the FASEB MARC Peer Mentoring Program. During her undergraduate studies, LeeCole mentored high school students (incoming college freshman) in a nanobiotechnology summer research program at Cornell University. To enhance her mentoring skills, LeeCole focused on one-on-one mentoring during her graduate studies and became involved in her departmental mentoring programs which matched undergraduate students with graduate mentors based on similar interests. In her post-doctoral work, Dr. Legette served as a committee member and honors thesis mentor for under represented minority students at Oregon State University (OSU) as part of the University Honors College. She also served as a faculty advisor for the Black Graduate Student Association at OSU from 2012-2014 and participates in undergraduate outreach programs such as workshops describing details for success in graduate school. LeeCole looks forward to continued engagement with students at the ABRCMS conference.
