 NIH Boot Camp: "Becoming a Manager"
Leadership & Management Training for PhD-level Scientists and Senior-level Graduate Students who will be leading their own groups in academics, industry, non-profits and government (research and non-research related positions)


Friday-Saturday, March 27-28
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC)

A separate and advance registration is required to participate in this Boot Camp. A $25 registration fee will be charged to attend the Boot Camp sessions.  NOTE:  Only PhD-level scientists and senior-level graduate students are eligible for this training program.  Applications are competitive and enrollment/registration will be limited to 100 people.  Certificates of Participation and Completion will be provided by staff of the NIH Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE) (www.training.nih.gov).

Lodging Assistance Travel Awards (up to $250) are available for eligible non-Boston area participants if the participants are selected.  *USA citizens and Permanent Residents of USA only are eligible to receive this financial assistance.*

ABOUT THE NIH BOOT CAMP: "Becoming a Manager"

Management of people and resources is a key component to being successful as you move forward in your career.  Staff from the NIH OITE has developed an intense course to give advanced PhD-level scientists and senior-level graduate students an overview of common management concepts that are not often taught in a research environment.  The topics covered will be applicable to all sectors (academics, industry, non-profits, government, etc.)

Sign-up for one-on-one appointments onsite at the meeting beginning Saturday morning at 9 AM on March 28th in the Career Corner located in the EB2015 Meeting Registration Area!

Beginning at 9:00 AM on Sunday, March 29th the onsite career services, including Internet-accessible laptop computers, will be available in the EB2015/FASEB Career Center located in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The EB2015/FASEB Virtual Career Center site will also be available 24-hours a day via the Internet at http://careers.faseb.org.

JOB-SEEKERS: This service is FREE for candidates/job seekers who are registered for EB2015 Meeting Attendance:

EMPLOYERS: There are options available for employers registered for EB2015 Meeting Attendance and for employers not registered for EB2015 Meeting Attendance: 

  • EMPLOYER INSTRUCTIONS

  • EMPLOYERS REGISTERED FOR EB2015 MEETING ATTENDANCE: Beginning March 2, 2015, employers may post post an unlimited number of employment opportunities online "FREE OF CHARGE". (Proof of EB2015 Meeting Registration will be required in order to take advantage of the "FREE" service.) Career Center registration includes open access to the job seeker resume profiles; the ability to send/receive electronic messages; and the ability to request/schedule interviews. (NOTE: Position listings will remain active online for a period of 30 days beginning with the posting date.)

  • EMPLOYERS NOT REGISTERED FOR EB2015 MEETING ATTENDANCE: Beginning March 2, 2015, employers not registered for EB2015 may pay a $500 career center registration fee and post an unlimited number of employment opportunities online. In addition, the $500 fee includes open access to the job seeker resume profiles; the ability to send/receive electronic messages; and the ability to request/schedule interviews. (NOTE: Position listings will remain active online for a period of 30 days beginning with the posting date.)
